Verdict
A fair contest for the track and Southern raider Night Speed is well drawn to make all. He can be forgiven his effort at Haydock, where he failed to handle the softened ground and then, after setting a strong pace, failed to last home at Epsom over six-furlongs. Back over this sharp five-furlongs and with the rail to help, he will be hard to peg back. No shortage of dangers including the unexposed Arzoo, for whom Jamie Spencer makes the long trek north, and while the bay colt is open to improvement now he steps into handicap company, he has it all to do from his outside draw. Others to consider are Mardoof, who is from a stable in fine form and Piccatune, who was just worn down close home at Southwell.
