Verdict

Another ordinary event where Stravaigin, South Bronx and Hawkwell are short listed but preference is for PERCUTANT. Ferdy Murphy has his string in decent form and Percutant is open to plenty of improvement after just five runs, now stepped up in trip. He has encountered good to soft ground before over inadequate trips when beaten, so it is hard to assess whether he will handle it or not today but we will find out soon enough. Stravaigin has won over this sort of trip at Perth for Jim Goldie and she stays very well. However, she is back up 3lbs for despite not winning and she might have to settle for the frame. South Bronx scored over fences last time and that looks more his forte than this sphere, Queen Of Diamonds is a good servant to Kate Walton but looks handicapped to the hilt and Hawkwell looks a more likely proposition now stepped up in trip. The ground needs to dry up for Wee Bertie, and Percutant gets the nod today.
