Verdict
Hamish McGonagall was beaten a short-head by a three-year-old in this last year but was awarded the race when Bear Behind was disqualified. Penalised 12lb for last year's victories, Tim Easterby's charge has to give plenty of weight to another three-year-old in MARY'S DAUGHTER and the latter may just be good enough to take advantage. Tangerine Trees, the 2011 Abbaye winner, is also weighted to reverse running with Hamish McGonagall on last season's Nunthorpe form and Kingsgate Choice is not easily overlooked given he's scored on his seasonal debut before. The Norfolk Stakes winner in 2011, Bapak Chinta, has something to prove now after his subsequent below par efforts while both Sans Loi and Silvanus are likely to struggle in this company.
