In depth

Verdict

Venetian Rock was well beaten at Leopardstown on Friday in the race won in good style by Geological. Damian English' charge is penalised 6lb but Stephen Mooney can claim his 7lb so he's looking well handicapped. Perfect Tapatino completed a double last summer over 1m4f so will have found an extended mile too short on his reappearance and the same could apply here. BUCKY LARSON was in double-winning form at this time a year ago and is surprisingly on the same mark as his last victory despite several good efforts in strong handicaps. His stable has been going well so the lack of a run shouldn't pose a problem. Eastern Racer followed a victory in a Dundalk claimer with a cracking effort when only just over a length behind Pepperoni Pete, who was receiving 22lb, at Cork. Premier League ended last season early with a victory at Galway in July but has looked a bit high in the weights in subsequent runs. Port Lion had looked a certain future winner with two excellent runs after arriving from France and can't have been right at the Curragh.
