In depth

Verdict

A very good prize has produced a competitive field. Bothar Clei was probably a bit fortunate at Cork as his two main rivals fell. He had a couple of lengths to spare over Sizing Coal but the latter may reverse the form on these terms and could get into the frame. BISHOPS ROAD made a successful handicap debut at Leopardstown where he held off the strongly-supported Heathfield, who was receiving 20lb. Henry De Bromhead's charge is progressing rapidly and could turn out to be a pattern race performer so gets the nod. Fine Rightly is doing well, though a rise of 8lb for beating two rivals at Ayr may prove a step too far, while Empire Of Dirt was still going well in the lead when falling two out at Thurles last time. Down Ace had beaten the latter easily at Down Royal in December and Noel Meade's novice could prove a value each-way bet in a very open contest.
