In depth

Verdict

MEDICAL CARD, who had shown promise in bumpers on heavy ground, made a nice debut over timber behind Model County Lass at Cork and with that under his belt is likely to take all the beating, even in this huge field. White Star Line produced a fine run behind First Lieutenant at Punchestown and didn't appear suited when only sixth in a bumper on this track behind today's rival He's Our Man. He's better than that and the winner has been beaten twice over timber subsequently and may not confirm the form. Henro Boy has done well but is untried on this sort of ground unlike winning point-to-pointers Canadian Venture and Subaroo Blue, who will appreciate a test of stamina. Skorcher's army of followers had scorched fingers last season when he was beaten at very short odds on three occasions. He had Medical Card 17 lengths behind when landing a Navan bumper last January but hasn't really taken to hurdles.
