Duchessofflorence and ZHUKOVA (NAP) finished second and fourth in the Fairyhouse maiden won by Blue Paraiba but it was the performance of the latter, a daughter of Fastnet Rock, that really took the eye. Slowly away, she had most of the large field behind her up the Fairyhouse straight with three to run before coming with a strong late thrust that took her to within a length and a half of the winner. She should be far more streetwise now and can reverse placings with Duchessofflorence and also see off Laffina. The latter is a major threat though as she looked a winner waiting to happen when a creditable runner-up on her seasonal reappearance and just her second career outing in a decent Cork maiden last month when also suggesting that this additional quarter mile will be in her favour.
