Verdict

Gordon Elliott won this four years in succession before Noel Meade interrupted the sequence last year and has no less than seven runners this time. Jockey bookings won't tell us much but Davy Russell was on board for both of Ravenhill's two victories last season, though his mount's best run came when beaten a head in the Kerry National at Listowel in September. Discorama, runner-up in the National Hunt Chase at Cheltenham and the Champion Novices' Chase at Punchestown, has had this as his target and will be better for last month's run at Wexford while it's difficult to get away from the chance of Portmore Lough, who stepped up to 2m6f at Galway and looked a natural stayer though a 10lb rise won't help. TOWER BRIDGE, a Grade 1 winner over hurdles, has never been this far over fences but looked a stayer when runner-up over 2m4f at Cheltenham in March and on his reappearance at Naas a couple of weeks ago which will have put him spot-on for this.
