A wide open apprentice handicap opens the card where Don Pietro, Gallego and ICEMAN GEORGE all seem to be well treated but it is with the last mentioned who with we side. Dave Morris' gelding is on good form at the moment having scored twice in his last three starts. The latest of those came last time out and with his mark rise negated but his conditional's claim he should run another big race. Gallego comes into this race chasing a hat-trick and while his mark is seven pounds higher than when starting this sequence he has scored off this rating before and needs to be respected. Don Pietro has been running well in plating company recently but returns to the handicap ranks off a winnable mark but he won't want conditions any softer. Randama Bay should be capable of better than he's shown and is weighted to challenge but in a tough start to the day Iceman George has the call.
