Verdict
It can pay to forgive Silence Reigns his below par effort in the Singer & Friedlander at Uttoxeter last month, as he was not the only one to be caught out by the scorching pace set by the winner, Whereareyounow, on the testing ground. He faces nothing of that caliber of opponent today and is expected to have too much class fro Cantarinho and Eastern Point, who are obvious dangers if the selection has another off-day. The last named ran a respectable race on her reappearance at Folkestone 17 days ago, where she did well to hold on to finish third after being outpaced in the home straight. The outing should have done her the power of good and she can make the frame again today. Cantarinho has a fair record over regulation fences and should also make a good fist of it today. However, as Paul Nicholls already has a good handle on the worth of his Fakenham run, he does appear to have improvement to find from somewhere. He can have a good breeze around here before tacking the Higham point on Sunday. By way of contrast, Silence Reigns has just twelve days to get his game plan together for a crack at the Kim Muir at the Festival and, as the class act in this company, he is fully expected to be the leading player today.
