Verdict

This handicap is not as competitive as it might at first look, but it will still take some solving. That said, we will opt for Huxley over J R Stevenson, Lady McNair and Hawridge Prince. What we are banking on with the selection is that he is back to the level of form that saw him win from today's mark at The Curragh last September. That win came over a mile but he has suggested recently that 10 furlongs is well worth another try now. We shall find out more today. J R Stevenson is certainly well handicapped on the basis of his 2002 form, while today's trip is possibly Lady McNair's best distance, and she is quite closely weighted on Windsor form of last August with the lightly-raced Hawridge Prince. That pair could go well here although the latter lacks a recent outing. Barry Island and Briareus are others who are fairly competitively weighted but, overall, we will side with Huxley.
