Verdict
Cherubim and Serramanna probably have the best form among those to have raced previously but there are some well-bred newcomers in opposition and we prefer to side with the debutantes and give the vote to Modesta, who gets the verdict over Winds of March. The last mentioned is a John Gosden-trained daughter of Sadler's Wells and comes from the same family as Ali-Royal and Sleepytime, who were both trained by Henry Cecil. The master of Warren Place is responsible for Serramanna, who is closely matched on form with Cherubim, but also sends out Modesta. Also by Sadler's Wells, she is a half-sister to the stable's Reams Of Verse and, with the stable already among the winners, warrants plenty of respect. Roger Charlton's Grand Lodge filly Apron and John Dunlop's Karamea are others worthy of a mention but for the vote we side with Serramanna.
