Verdict
He may not be one to take too short a price about but COVERT AMBITION has an obvious chance in this line-up. Tranquil Tiger and Blue Monday could be amongst those challenging for the places. The selection has plenty of improving to do if he's to take up his entry in the Juddmonte International but he certainly has the scope after just three career starts. He won the first of those at Nottingham before landing a Kempton handicap in the style of a good horse before providing Godolphin with a one-two in a Listed race at Sandown. He took a while to pick-up but came home strongly to suggest that he's more than capable of winning in this company as he gains in experience. The question is whether this race will come too early in his career and he will have to get the better of some battle-hardened performers. None more so than Blue Monday who returned from a spell in Australia to run a series of decent races but this trip is on the short side for him. The distance is no problem for the consistent Tranquil Tiger but he was just behind the selection at Sandown and it's difficult to see why he should reverse the form with Covert Ambition expected to improve. Substantial rain would bring Mutajarred into play whilst it will be interesting to see how the likes of Muhannak, Rock City and Supaseus get on but Covert Ambition looks pretty solid.
