    Verdict

CLEAR SPRING attempts to win this for third time in succession and looks to have every chance of doing so. Well beaten at Newmarket before his 2016 success off a 2lb higher mark, John Spearing’s charge has followed the same path this time round and can confirm running with last year's third Dougan. Gunmetal was ahead of the selection at Newmarket and won at the latter track before that while both Stellarta and Exceed The Limit went close on the all-weather on their respective latest starts. Plucky Dip won a lower grade sprint at Chelmsford recently, Boy In The Bar remains 5lb higher than last year’s success at Ascot and Ice Age drops back in trip after a decent effort over 7f at Goodwood.
