Verdict

Afaak was runner-up in the Cambridgeshire consolation race at Newmarket in September behind subsequent Lincoln winner Addeybb. Jim Crowley prefers him to Taqdeer, who was well beaten in the Spring Mile at Doncaster recently behind Lord Of The Rock and second-placed HUMBERT. Hugo Palmer’s progressive charge was beaten only a neck on that occasion and should make another bold bid. Gabrial finished in front of Repercussion, Leader Writer and Ballard Down when fourth in last month’s Lincoln while Born To Be Alive ran well in the Doncaster Mile at the same meeting. Hors De Combat won a competitive handicap on the Turf at Meydan in February and Tony Curtis has claims on his second at Goodwood in August and is preferred to Graphite Storm, Gilgamesh and Mazyoun.
