        Verdict

        HAMISH followed a fine effort in the Irish St Leger with a victory in the Cumberland Lodge at Ascot. He’s penalised for that success but should still have the measure of his nearest rivals Lone Eagle and Passion And Glory. The former has so far failed to reproduce last year’s second in the Irish Derby while the latter won a Listed race at Sandown during the summer. Euchen Glen won this in 2020 but finished a long way behind the selection at Ascot while Max Vega won the John Porter here back in April and looks best of the rest.
