In depth
Formwatch
Hunters Tweed Has created a very good impression this season and lost little in defeat when third to Bring Sweets in a valuable Haydock hurdle last time; acts on soft; Russ Garritty does well on the limited rides he has here and a double-penalty looks his main threat here on the basis of form
Chapeltown (IRE) Won a fairly modest (for Newbury anyway, although the third, Spunkie, has won since) novices' hurdle over course and distance in Nov of last year; Redwood Grove, 4th that day, is held on bare form but, by the same token, he's entitled to be improving; probably a better effort when fifth at Towcester next time;
Redwood Grove (USA) See Chapeltown; has scope for improvement although has something to find with Chapeltown on their November running here
Royal Measure His placed form reads well and his win last time shows he is going the right way; looks to hold every chance here
Grilse Run (IRE) Well beaten both starts so far and cannot be fancied for this race
Idiome (FR) French import who put up a decent effort on hurdling debut in this country when third behind Swan Knight and Dark Shell at Wincanton on Feb 22; just normal improvement from that brings him into things here
Noble Investment Is pretty well-bred but has failed to transfer things to the racetrack in England; it would be a surprise if he won today
Oudalmuteena (IRE) Modest novice hurdle form but has done OK at his level this year; would be better off in handicaps
Pas de Probleme (IRE) Won a Sandown handicap on the flat over 10f last May; likes the ground and he should be able to pay his way over hurdles although it's asking something to take this at the first time of asking
Rainbow Valley (GER) He won at 2yo and 3yo on the flat in Germany although he gave little cause for encouragement on his hurdling debut at Plumpton 26 days ago
Tidour (FR) Hurdling debut after showing promise in a Folkestone bumper last time; couldn't be a strong fancy on hurdling debut
April Louise She's cut little ice in her bumper and hurdles efforts to date and is hard to fancy here
Derrykin It would be a big surprise if this mare obliged at the first time of asking
Iambe de La See (FR) The Nicky Henderson/Mick Fitzgerald team always have to be respected in these types of events; she won three times on the flat in France last year and cannot be ruled out even though it is her debut
Rose Hill Acts on soft and stays two miles well; has been off for 299 days and will probably need this run
Whats Money A lightly raced 10yo maiden and you'd struggle to build a convincing case for her chances here
