In depth

Verdict

A relatively ordinary-looking maiden, which should develop into a match between Perfect Setting and Sparkling Jewel, with Peter Makin's colt just preferred. Perfect Setting had just the one run last season, but showed plenty of speed in finishing second behind Peace Offering at Sandown. The fact that the Polish Precedent colt started 11/10 favourite on his debut suggests he is clearly held in some regard by connections, and for that reason he is just preferred here. Richard Hannon's Sparkling Jewel has produced a similar level of form in her two starts so far, both of them on the Polytrack at Lingfield, and seems sure to provide stern opposition to the selection. Best of the rest could be Go Go Girl, who shaped well enough over six furlongs at Goodwood last time and has Kieren Fallon booked this evening.
