In depth

Verdict

David O'Meara has had a tremendous season and though St Oswald hasn't contributed to his tally a first-time visor could work the oracle and he's well enough handicapped to make the short-list. Benny The Bear is at his best on soft ground over this trip and a 3lb rise for his recent Ayr victory shouldn't prevent another big effort but Broctune Papa Gio hasn't proved he enjoys cut in the ground. The latter started favourite in the C&D event won by Reason To Believe last month but disappointed, unlike runner-up MOONLIGHT MYSTERY, who produced easily her best ever performance and a repeat would see her difficult to beat. Flying Applause has never won on soft ground but Ellies Image is running well enough to make her presence felt.
