Verdict
Island Brave beat third-placed Rainbow Dreamer less than a length in last year’s renewal though both were subsequently beaten by Nicholas T when the latter won the Northumberland Plate off today’s mark over track and trip in June. Alignak has won a Listed race this year but returns to a handicap 14lb higher than when last successful. He steps up in trip along with Mr Curiosity, who also has something to prove off his current mark. COLTRANE (NAP) made a belated reappearance over 1m4f at Kempton last month and finished a creditable runner-up. Today’s longer distance will suit the dual 1m6f winner and Andrew Balding’s charge gets the vote.
