In depth

Verdict

Al Shahir was beaten a very long way on his debut at Carlisle but did much better when attempting to make all at Southwell where he was only collared late. Getonsam, the only one of his rivals to have run, was beaten a long way at Hexham so this can go to a newcomer. Anywaythewindblows is a half-brother to two winners on the Flat though conditions may prove a bit daunting. BALLASALLA is a full brother to Grand National hero Ballabriggs and related to several other winners so testing ground can give him an edge on his debut. Judge Earl is the first foal of a mare from a smart jumping family and the filly Mathayus is a brother of a winning bumper.
