Verdict
Weldman, Gary's Pimpernel and Cloonloo Annie are the three to concentrate on here but it would be a big surprise if the Mary Reveley gelding Weldman was not good enough to get his head in front. The selection was a good fourth on his debut behind Scotch Corner, despite running green. He is sure to have learned from the experience and is taken to score. Gary's Pimpernel rates the main danger as he won well on his debut and then ran a good race under his penalty when finishing second behind Paddy The Piper at Wetherby. However, he has a 272 day absence to overcome so for that reason is opposed. Clonloo Annie is a well-bred filly by Be My Chief so is worth a second look in the betting, but her stable are not renowned for winners in this sphere. Of the rest, Bolton Castle is from a shrewd yard and is worth noting in the market, but we are happy to side with Weldman.
