Verdict

The previous two renewals were won by Seafarer last year and Sir Chauvelin before that but both return from lay-offs having been in poor form earlier. Deja is not the easiest to train but has won four of only five outings including his only start of the year so far at Kempton in July. He’s 7lb higher for this and Paths Of Glory has been raised the same amount after landing a hat-trick with last month’s success ar Wolverhampton. Francis Xavier went close again at Pontefract last time but had earlier fallen victim to SPANISH ARCHER when the latter won at Doncaster in August. James Fanshawe’s charge gets another chance having found only one too good in this grade at Leicester last time.
