          Verdict

          This is traditionally a very competitive heat and although Undeterred is very well treated in attempting to win this for the second year running, he will need to put in something like his best to do so. A string of disappointing efforts see him entering this on a 10lb lower mark than for last year's renewal but recent indications have shown that there is still a race in him somewhere. The booking of Darryll Holland also catches the eye. Telesto has something to prove after a very disappointing effort last time and may prove to be more effective in a smaller field. So a chance is taken that Armagnac can put in something like his best and build on a splendid effort at York last time. He acts on any going and can track a fair pace from the front-running Technician from his high draw. Onlytime Will Tell will also be popular in the ring after taking a valuable prize at Epsom, before giving a good account of himself in the Wokingham. He joins Manorbier, Soba Jones and Carlton as shortlist material, but may struggle to give weight away all round.
