Verdict

MASKED MARVEL beat subsequent Queen's Vase winner Namibian at Goodwood in May before finishing a highly creditable eighth in the Investec Derby at Epsom. That appears to give John Gosden's colt the edge over Solar Sky, who was second to Namibian at Royal Ascot, and makes him the one to beat here. Hurricane Higgins has hardly raised a gallop since finishing runner-up to stablemate Dordogne in the Lingfield Derby Trial but Census was second to the highly impressive Brown Panther at Ascot and looks a better bet than Zain Al Boldan and Crimson Knight.
