In depth

Verdict

OLD PERSIAN pulled readily clear of Algam, only beaten a head in a Class 2 at Salisbury on Wednesday, when getting off the mark at Chelmsford and may have enough scope to defy his penalty. Knight To Behold defied market expectations when just failing to land a normally-informative conditions race on his debut at Newbury and any improvement on that would put him in the firing-line. Gronkowski showed promise at Newbury last month and is another likely improver while Frankie gets the leg up on John Gosden’s newcomer Wilfred Owen, who is a half-brother to two winners. Hazarfan is a 250,000gns son of Frankel who is a half-brother to the top-class Hartnell so is well worth a market check.
