Verdict

MANIFEST is bred in the purple and is put forwards ahead of Beauchamp Xerxes and Reportage. Henry Cecil knows the family well as his colt is a half-brother to Reams Of Verse, High Walden and Midday's dam Midsummer as well as Elmaamul. This is a relatively belated debut and it remains to be seen whether he possesses a fraction of their ability but it's interesting to see him start here. Kansai Spirit has claims on the pick of last season's form but appears to be the yard's second string behind Reportage who shapes as though he'll see out this longer trip. The step up should certainly bring about improvement from the stoutly bred Do The Strand whose never nearer Newbury seventh was an encouraging performance. Charger was another to make a nice introduction when fourth in a fair maiden that probably wasn't run at a pace to suit the well bred Rock Of Gibraltar colt. The experience and a stronger pace could see him leave the bare form behind. Beauchamp Xerxes has been highly tried and has rewarded the ambition with a Listed second before failing to run his race in a Group 2 at Royal Ascot. He has an obvious chance on his return to maiden company but Manifest is the suggestion.
