In depth

Verdict

Fr Dominic disappointed on his reappearance but may be worth another chance now dropped in grade. He faces no easy task against some experienced and capable campaigners whilst the fitting of a visor can also be deemed off-putting. Indeed some are questioning whether he has trained on. Those are the negatives but the positives include his debut win from some smart performers and the fact that his Oaks-winning trainer holds him in high regard and believed that he would make a better three year-old. He was pitched straight into Listed company earlier this year but ran no race at all but may have needed it or been caught out by the soft ground. Either way, he's good enough to be forgiven one bad run. For those who would prefer to side with a runner with better recent form to their name, there are plenty to consider. Kings Point won well last time and is well handicapped on his old form despite having to carry a penalty, he also looks well drawn and hails from a yard that has won this race in recent years. Goodbye Mr Bond is an honest sort whilst Officer is a fascinating runner now that he's got an outing under his belt. His shrewd yard usually get the best out of their purchases and he's a horse that the trainer's son has ridden in the past. Burnbrake is progressing nicely and looks ready for this step up in trip but class horses have a good record in this race and, whilst King's Point may have the more obvious claims at first glance, the selection is rated his superior at present, has the potential to rate a good bit higher still and FR DOMINIC may just turn out to be the classiest horse in the line-up.
