Verdict

Berkshire Blue, Caliburn and Loxley arrive on the back of victories in novice company with the latter preferred on last month’s convincing success over 1m2 here. Winning handicapper First Eleven also faces tougher opposition after placing at Ascot but will still prove popular given the Gosden yard has won four of the last seven renewals but GIUSEPPE GARIBALDI (NAP) has the proven form at this level. Runner-up in a Group 2 at the Curragh last time when well ahead of stablemate Victory Salute, Aidan O’Brien’s progressive colt had earlier finished in front of Wells Farhh Go when third in the King Edward V11 over 1m4f at Royal Ascot and looks the one to beat. Better was expected of the latter at Ascot but this longer trip should suit and he’s preferred to Global Giant.
