Verdict

Into The Shadows can defy a nine-pound rise to gain another course and distance victory, with Lets Roll, Duelling Banjos, Doveden Hero and Sand And Stars all good enough to play a part in proceedings. Like his mother, Keith Reveley only sends them to Newmarket if they have major claims, and so the fact that he lets Into The Shadows line up despite shouldering a hefty rise has to be respected. The mare absolutely bolted up at Chester last time and if in the same mood she will take some stopping despite the ground being faster than ideal. Fellow northern raider Lets Roll stayed on well when third to Cruise Director at York last week, finishing six-and-a-half lengths adrift at the line, but the latter was put in his place by the selection at Chester earlier and so that form line suggests that Chris Thornton's charge should be held. Duelling Banjos has been in great form but unless the heavens open will find it tough, and Doveden Hero drops back in trip after scoring over two miles. Mark Tompkins won this 12 months ago with Astrocharmer and saddles his half-sister Sand And Stars who can go well despite her absence. For the winner we return to Into The Shadows.
