Verdict

A horrendously competitive handicap for punters to get out on and from a shorlist that includes Mac Gille Eoin, Raccoon and Impromptu, our vote is for the last named. Ralph Beckett's stable are operating in much better form than they once were and as a sprinter in form, Impromptu makes plenty of appeal. Effective over six, he has got plenty of early pace and should not necessarily be inconvenienced by a return to shorter. Mac Gille Eoin is another in good form and continues to defy the handicapper at will. Raccoon is more exposed than most but does not know how to run a bad race when the going is on the fast side and he should give a good account at fair odds. Angus Newz has the back class to win this if in the mood. Talbot Avenue invariably places rather than wins whilst Canadian Danehill and Bo McGinty have claims if the race is run to suit. Nigella being best of the rest. Impromptu is less exposed than most and as a sprinter in form, he receives the nomination.
