Verdict
A grand title for what is an ordinary amateur riders’ handicap. Simon Walker is head and shoulders above most of his contemporaries and looks to have the plum ride on BUBBLE AND SQUEAK (NAP), who won over a mile at Goodwood earlier this year and was just beaten over 1m2f last time at Chelmsford. Brother McGonagall rattled up a hat-trick in the summer but may need to drop a few more pounds before getting back in the winner’s enclosure. Biotic has claims, however, if forgiven a below-par effort at Leicester earlier this month. Rotherwick is a previous course and distance winner but wouldn’t want any rain.
