Verdict

Alhaajes ran with credit in the Dee Stakes last time and should appreciate this return to a maiden but the Barry Hills-trained colt faces stiff opposition from Dan Dare, who gets the vote with Invention rated the best of the remainder. The selection ran promising races on his two starts as a juvenile, latterly when a close fourth behind Hazeyemm at Newbury and, with the yard of Sir Michael Stoute in such good form, the likelihood is that he will be fit enough for his return. Mohtarres was well held on his only start at two but could be a good deal better than that run would suggest, while Gallant Sir is an interesting newcomer for who a market move would have to be noted. Miss Trinidad is bred to be useful and is another to consider along with Henry Cecil's Thumpers Dream, especially now that the yard is amongst the winners this term. John Gosden's Invention is entitled to come on a bundle for his run in the Wood Ditton that is working out this year but Dan Dare looks a likely improver this term and gets the vote to make a winning return.
