Verdict
ARCHIE RICE is an interesting candidate for top honours and is suggested ahead of Feathered Crown and the likes of Goodwood Starlight. Formerly with Willie Jarvis, the four year old gelding attracted support more than once last term but continued to disappoint which has seen his handicap mark tumble. His latest run behind Buddy Holly was much more like it and suggested that he has the scope to win a race of this nature. Feathered Crown is the one to beat following her victory at Leicester (where Buddy Holly was back in third) which has seen her pick up the obligatory penalty. He was impressive that day and there should be plenty more to come but his price is likely to reflect that. Goodwood Starlight hasn't won for a while but is well handicapped as a result, At Wits End is progressive and has claims if acting on quick ground whilst Silent Applause won his sole start last year and has to be considered but Archie Rice looks capable of a bold show at an attractive price.
