Verdict

There may only be four runners but this is a hot race; we'll take POET'S VOICE to make the most of the weight that he receives from Pallantes Cross. The selection's debut came at this track during the July meeting where he stayed on to take third behind Elusive Pimpernel. It's traditionally a strong maiden and that view was enhanced when the fourth home ran out a hugely impressive winner of a Newbury maiden on his next start. He has all the requisite big race entries and is entitled to improve for the outing. Pallantes Cross showed little on debut but improved markedly to make every yard at Musselburgh; he'll have more to offer but has no big race entries and will do well to concede weight to Poet's Voice. Cockney Class looked green on debut at Ascot and should have derived considerable benefit from the outing. The stable houses some nice juveniles and entries suggest that this fellow could be among them. Zaahy does make some appeal on paper but is dropped in at the deep end and will need to be well above average to get the better of Poet's Voice.
