Verdict
SANDALWOOD had shown little for the champion trainer until finding some form in the spring with runner-up efforts at Taunton and Plumpton. He actually passed the post first at Taunton but lost the race in the stewards' room and this looks a decent opportunity for redemption. He stays further than today's trip and Harry Cobden will probably set out to maximise his assured stamina. Presenting Nelly shaped quite nicely when third on hurdling debut at Southwell and looks a probable improver. The extra distance should not inconvenience around this sharp track. Clapton Hill should appreciate the move into maiden hurdle company after a couple of spins in handicaps, whilst both Chosen Bae and Summerleaze are hard to assess on the basis of placed form in ordinary point-to-points.
