Verdict

Solstalla is 4lb higher than when landing this 12 months ago and was beaten by Kilmington Rose at Warwick subsequently. She rather lost her way in the autumn and hasn’t raced since November. The Nicholls’ mare won three times here last year but AYR OF ELEGANCE also has a decent record on the track and may be the pick of the weights. Sweet Nightingale was a winner here last month and Peltwell, eased in grade, is also respected but Cool Stone had only three rivals when finally getting off the mark at Worcester.

Formwatch

Peltwell (IRE) 40-1 (10-2) Held up in rear, raced wide and headway after 4th, pushed along after 3 out, outpaced 2 out and soon held, 10th of 16, 24 1/2l behind N'Golo (10-9) at Haydock 2m hcp (1) gs in May.

Kilmington Rose (IRE) 4-1 (11-0) Swished tail at times, in touch, bumped 1st, slow and lost place next, not fluent 9th or 10th, mistake and weakened 12th, pulled up before next, at Warwick 2m 4f (3) gd in May.

Cool Stone 2-1 (11-2) Took keen hold, held up behind leaders, not fluent 3 out, soon went 2nd, not fluent last, led flat, stayed on, won at Worcester 2m mdn (4) gs in May beating Leading Theatre (11-2) by 3/4l, 4 ran.

Sweet Nightingale 15-8fav (11-5) Last pair, not fluent 3rd or 4 out, 3rd before 3 out, no impression and never near winner, 3rd of 5, 12l behind Windy Cove (10-2) at Warwick 2m hcp (4) gd in May.

Solstalla 14-1 (10-6) Always behind, last of 7, 26 3/4l behind Geromino (11-12) at Huntingdon 2m hcp (3) gd in Nov.

Ayr Of Elegance 14-1 (10-13) Disputed 2nd until 4th, handy 3rd, disputing 2nd again after 6th, outright 2nd and driven home turn, no chance with winner, just lost out on battle for lost 2nd close home, 3rd of 5, 19 1/4l behind Lincoln Lyn (10-3) at Southwell 2m 4f hcp (4) gd in May.
