Oedipe has another chance to break his duck over hurdles here but if his last effort is anything to go by he is no good thing and we will take a chance on improvement from ZAKATAI, while Great Mates and Jetnova are respected. The selection has been struggling to find an extra gear over two miles in recent runs and now gets the step up in trip that he surely needs. He is untried on fast ground, but his sire Kalanisi relished it, so there is every chance that he will be comfortable in these conditions, and we will side with him. Oedipe was a classy chaser, who won't mind the ground, but was disappointing when apparently thrown in last time. While he could have too much for them he is worth taking on at the likely price. Great Mates won a fast ground Stratford bumper and looks well worth the step up in distance by Paul Nicholls for this hurdling debut, and a market check is advised, while Irish point winner Jetnova will have no stamina concerns on this hurdling bow, and is a very well bred newcomer to rules racing, who should relish hearing his hooves rattle. An interesting opener where Zakatai is given the nod.
