      Verdict

      Quite a few of these could well improve with time but SCARPETA (NAP) is already on a vibrant upward curve having made all to score with any amount in hand at Wolverhampton last time. The Soldier Of Fortune gelding had previously obliged on turf so there are no concerns on that score and Mark Johnston is a master at improving this type of animal throughout their three-year-old career. He is taken to defy a 6lb penalty at the main expense of Matidia and Gimlet, both of whom have shown sufficient ability this term to suggest they can land a small handicap. Neither Palisade nor Aristocles have indicated a win is imminent but both hail from quality yards and it would be folly to ignore the claims of the Prescott and Stoute charges at this early stage of the campaign, especially should money be forthcoming for either or both.
