    Verdict

In what is a two-horse race on paper, Subpoena is selected to get the better of his main rival Chrysander. A poor turnout of just four sees Supboena line up with leading claims, and the Godolphin three-year-old is taken to gain a belated first win for his current yard. Successful as a juvenile for Michael Jarvis, six outings this year have yielded little, but since being fitted with a visor, Subpoena has indicated that an overdue victory is imminent. He at least showed at Doncaster last time that he can handle cut in the ground when second to Elliot's World at level weights. That was a good effort considering that the latter was rated seven-pound superior, and although strictly at today's weights he has it to do with Chrysander who is officially rated nearly a stone higher, he must surely come good sooner rather than later. We know Chrysander handles soft ground, and he was possibly in need of his last outing at Doncaster, but he always seems to find one or two too good and is worth taking on again. The other two here are completely up against it, and Subpoena can finally get his head in front.
