Verdict

Walter Swinburn's APOTHESIS makes the selection here ahead of course and distance winner Gala Sunday and General Tufto. The four-year-old was a distance winner last time out and ran a superb race where he was always well positioned and enjoyed the run of the race. The step up to 1m2f for the first time suited and he was good enough to get off the mark. The going here should suit the colt and he looks capable of repeating his last victory on his track debut. Gala Sunday is an experienced will be returning from an eight month spell away from the track but has run well fresh in the past and can be the selections closest rival if he can continue his good form from last year. General Tufto has been in superb form on artificial surfaces this year and if he can bring that form to the turf he can give the selection a run for his money. The ground is expected to suit the gelding but his previous form on the turf has been rather inconsistent. Sri Kuantan has also been in good from on the artificial surface but whether he can bring that form to the turf remains to be seen and a market check is advised. Our selection then is Apothesis.
