    Verdict

Buy On The Red, Farefield Lodge and Cornus form the shortlist in a competitive opener and the vote is given to Buy On The Red. The selection has been in really good form of late and he can gain his reward for a string of consistent efforts. He was a close second behind For Life at Brighton last time and with ground conditions to suit here he can get his head in front. Farefield Lodge was a beaten favourite at Hamilton last time but he still ran well from a wide draw and he has won here before for today's pilot Kevin Darley. Cornus was a fair fourth behind Bobby Rose over this course and distance last time but the handicapper may have his measure at present and it looks like he could have to settle for a minor role today. Ryedane arrives here in good form and he has his optimum conditions so he is another that could go well. However, for the winner we will stick with Buy On The Red.
