In depth

Verdict

Quantum Leap still has bags of scope and Capone has been running well while Blistering Barney is gradually dropping to a winnable mark, though this is a new trip for the course winner. Tuddenham Green is still a maiden on the level but has won twice over hurdles. First Emperor won at Goodwood in May but has looked in the handicapper’s grip since. Though twice a beaten favourite over 2m and penalised for a runaway success in an amateurs’ race at Chepstow last week, GOLDEN SHOT still looks one to follow and can thwart the hat-trick bid of Alnilam. Catterick maiden winner Campaign Trail is preferred Seahouses of the two Ralph Beckett three-year-olds who prop up the weights.
