Verdict

A high draw can help Lady Protector recoup some of the losses from when she failed to get through the pack when sent off as well supported favourite on her last previous start. Mimic and Jinksonthehouse will not make life easy for the selection though and, along with Roman Mistress, are capable of ensuring that there is no let up in the pace as they dash for the line. However, this scenario will only aid the cause of Lady Protector, who needs a truly run race to be seen at her best. The fact that she has arguably the best of the draw will obviously be of no hindrance to her. But as she likes to come from off the pace, it will be no surprise to see her dropped in by Darryll Holland. The proximity of top weight Cerulean Rose will also help Lady Protector to stay on the ball as things unfold and she has more things in her favour than against and gets the narrowest of verdicts this evening.
