        Verdict

        Van Gerwen’s only win last year came over track and trip off an 8lb higher mark and 10-year-old is still capable at this level. But he’s taken on with stablemate HEY MR, who usually takes on better opposition and is also a course and distance winner. Mehmo won twice at Southwell over the winter but Hot Scoop makes more appeal at the weights on Turf. Ernest Rutherford has plummeted down the ratings since arriving from Ireland but he’s yet to show any improvement for it.
