    In depth

    Verdict

Castle Lady has now won both starts for Godolphin having landed a Group 3 trial race here and beating Imperial Charm in the process. But the latter will appreciate today’s softer ground and Simon Crisford’s filly is also preferred to the returning East, well beaten when second for Kevin Ryan in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf in November. The more exposed Coral Beach won a Listed event for Aidan O’Brien in October while Andre Fabre’s Suphala is fancied to reverse last month’s running at Maisons-Laffitte with Watch Me and also beat Commes at Chantilly last year. Silva looks up against it at this level but MATEMATICA finished well ahead of Rocques when caught close home in the Group 1 Prix Marcel Boussac over track and trip in October. Last month’s effortless maiden victory should see her spot on for this and Carlos Laffon-Parias’ filly may well prove good enough.
