Verdict

The second leg of America's Triple Crown series and the first two home in the Kentucky Derby re-oppose. Today's slightly shorter trip will be in Derby runner-up BODEMEISTER's favour but perhaps more crucial is the lack of early pace in today's field. He set blistering early fractions in Kentucky when chased up by a sprinter and those exertions took their toll when the winner, I'll Have Another, passed him in the closing stages. Bob Baffert's colt should settle better on the lead here and can hold on for victory this time. The latter looks sure to be thereabouts again and Churchill Downs fifth Creative Cause can turn the tables with fourth-placed Went The Day Well with more luck in-running.
