In depth

Verdict

Go Harvey Go gets the verdict over Harry Collins and Pintal in the finale, although a move for Coer d'Alene would also be interesting. The last named put in a solid effort last time and is respected on that piece of form. However, the trip and ground conspire against him and he needs everything to go his way. Pintal, on the other hand, will relish the ground and shapes as if staying will be his forte. However, lack of a recent run does not do much to bolster his claims and he may be best watched today. Harry Collins is well treated on his chasing rating and has to be a danger to them all. nevertheless he has a welter burden to carry and nothing short of his best will suffice. Therefore, he is deserted in favour of Go Harvey Go, who starts his handicap career on a very fair mark and, as there is a distinct lack of strength in depth amongst the rest, the Richard Phillips-trained gelding edges the nomination to round off the meeting on a high.
