In depth

Verdict

Novellen Lad, Mr Wolf, Eton Rifles and RED CAPE form the shortlist here and the vote goes to the last mentioned. Ruth Carr has her string in good form and although Red Cape has a penalty for his win last time out he did appear to score with plenty in hand and he may still be one step ahead of the handicapper. Eton Rifles is lightly raced but all his best form has been with cut in the ground; Mr Wolf loves it here but he likes to trailblaze and in that respect his high draw is a big negative today. Novellen Lad is another that has not been done any favours by the draw as he bids to complete the hat-trick. He is also dropped in trip today, although that should not really inconvenience him. Solar Spirit has gone well here in the past and he could represent some each-way value in the race, as could Dickie Le Davoir if he is given a soft lead. This is wide open and the vote goes to Red Cape.
