Verdict

Dickie Le Davoir should go well returned to turf fit from an all-weather campaign but he might have to settle for second behind HITS ONLY JUDE, with Angle Of Attack and Ask Dan others to consider. Declan Carroll's gelding ran well off this mark at Catterick last time when trapped wide throughout. That came over seven furlongs but his last win came at today's trip so if anything this drop back is viewed as a positive, whilst his rider showed himself to be capable when aboard the last day. The one concern is he's yet to win on turf but that's reflected in a very generous mark compared to his all-weather rating and a big run is expected. Dickie Le Davoir is now a pound below his last winning mark and today's conditions are ideal. He's happy on almost any surface and today's ground will be perfect for him, but he was well held last time and may have to settle for a minor role. Angle Of Attack can be tough to peg back on his day and is over a stone below his last turf winning mark but six furlongs here may stretch his stamina and for that reason we look elsewhere. Ask Dan is another who is nicely treated but this gelding has only won over a mile and may get outpaced, although he should stay on past many of these late in the day. Guest Connections should be fit after a recent run to blow away cobwebs and he could go well with conditions ideal as for the grade he's pretty reliable, whilst a market move for Alpha Tauri should be looked for as he is unexposed and tries the tongue-tie for the first time. Tangerine Trees runs for the first time in 2010 but has done all his winning at this trip and is respected, but Hits Only Jude arrives here fit and well, has his conditions, and gets the vote accordingly.
